Description
The Sagiga were the native people of Kiengir prior to and during their conflicts with the Udug. As opposed to what is seen of the Sudrans, a few Sagiga make a physical appearance that isn't in the form of a skeleton, but rather in the form of Arms. We can see that they were human in appearance and size, with no differing factors between the Sagiga and the humans on Earth.
As seen in their writings (which appear briefly when reading a Note before the text is replaced with English), they wrote in what appears to be cuneiform: a real world script used by the ancient civilizations of the Arabian peninsula, originally developed for the Sumerian language in Mesopotamia. Unlike the Primordial Code of Sudra, the Sagiga script does not 1:1 match up with English.
History
The Lamassu
The people of Kiengir lived in a monarchical society[1], and were also very religious. They greatly worshipped the Lamassu, who it is not known how long has been around. The Sagiga treated the Lamassu as a lord, being from the gods, and listened to its every word and command with great reverence.[2][1] The Lamassu instructed the Sagiga as to what to do, such as building schools[3], bridges[4], even to the point of forcing the Sagiga into building weapons[5] and escalating war with the Udug.[6]
It delivered most of its teachings in the edubba- a type of Mesopotamian school- it had requested be built in the Giguna Steppes.[7] Here, it had numerous ummias, who appear to be teachers, who instructed its students on the laws of science and technology[2]- though not telling them how this technology worked, rather telling them that it's a taboo. [5]
The Udug War
Throughout Kiengir's history, the Udug- a group of various demon-like creatures- have been around. It is not known if the two have always coexisted, or if it has simply been a long time, but the Udug's existence on Kiengir has not always been with malicious intent. Being of the Breach, the Udug coming into the worldstream created dangers for the Sagiga, though appeared somewhat ambivalent or unknowing to this.[8]
At one point, the Lamassu determined that the Udug, who had previously returned to their ocean caves[9], had left their home and were roaming once again. As such, the Lamassu instructed that a great fortress- dubbed Igi-Unug-Gal- be built to defend against the Udug, telling the Sagiga that they will strike again.[3] The Sagiga were told to construct this fortress, as well as a vault[9] and several war machines and weapons to fight against the Udug.[2] The Sagiga long wondered about the Udug's power and 'witchcraft', knowing not about the source of their strength nor if they could harness it themselves.[10]
