Drone Climbing used to get the Bioflux Accelerator 2

In the first Axiom Verge, Drone Climbing is an advanced technique that allows Trace to gain infinite height with just the Drone Teleport. In that sense, it has the same purpose as the widely known "Infinite Bomb Jump" in the Metroid series. However, Drone Climbing is much faster than the IBJ, and thus can also be used just to save time during speedruns.

General Idea

First, the player launches the Remote Drone in the desired direction. Then, (usually when the egg has reached its apex), the player teleports to the Drone and launches it again from that point.

How to Perform

It is normally impossible to launch the Drone after teleporting to it because there is a cooldown, but that cooldown can be reset by using either the Laser Drill or the Address Disruptor. It means that to relaunch the Drone, a player must press "Drone, Drone, Drill, Drone" in rapid succession.
(Default buttons: Nintendo: X,X,ZR,X | PlayStation: △,△,R2,△ | Xbox: Y,Y,RT,Y)

The reason for these buttons is as follow:

  1. "Drone": To hatch the egg in midair.
  2. "Drone": To teleport to the drone.
  3. "Drill": To reset the cooldown.
  4. "Drone": To launch a new one.

The faster that sequence of buttons is pressed, the more efficient the climbing will be. On the contrary, no height will be gained if not done fast enough. With the Enhanced Drone Launch, the timing is somewhat tight. It gets extreme without.

Not pressing the sequence properly will cause it to fail in all sorts of ways. Also, it is crucial to wait for the egg to gain height after a relaunch before doing the sequence again. Spamming buttons does not work.
