Udug- a Sumerian word used for the same purpose[1]- is a general term used to refer to demons of Kiengir, historical enemies of the Sagiga. In the past, the Udug didn't target the Sagiga much, merely brushing them aside while they carried out their activities and lives.[2] However, the Lamassu one day fortold that the Udug would strike against the Sagiga, and that they must construct weapons to defend themselves. In response, the Udug felt threatened and began hunting the Sagiga, targeting them and starting the Udug War.
