Transcription
Sixty revered sages gave their lives. In return we have ten weapons of godlike power. The King is pleased and the Udug put to rout, at least for the time being. But it does not feel like victory. Sheshkala was an honorable and proud leader, Gemekala a respected priestess. Now they are dust, sleeping, only summoned when needed. Sixty more go into the chambers tomorrow. It seems everything my grandmother tried to warn us of - for which she was unjustly punished - has come to pass. We survive at the cost of all we hoped to save.
