Description
Ukhu is a Variant Clone of Athetos, which takes on the form of a giant wasp-like insect. Its exoskeleton has a purple-ish hue and it flies with four large opaque wings. Ukhu has two sharp mandibles, giving its jaw a beak-like appearance. It has five yellow eyes visible, and possibly more on the other side of its head, and a hard stinger protruding from its abdomen.

Ukhu is the only Variant not mentioned in any of the Notes.

Battle
Ukhu is encountered in the upper-most part of Edin. Ukhu is one of the more difficult bosses in the game, giving only brief windows of opportunity to attack its weak spot—its open mouth.

During the battle, Ukhu will spit purple sludge in Trace's direction. It will also use its stinger and arms to stab at Trace, which deals significant damage. Occasionally, Ukhu will lean backwards and release three smaller wasps from the holes in its abdomen. These smaller wasps can be killed for life drops and they can also be glitched (see more on this glitching in Strategy section below).

Upon defeating this Variant, Trace will gain access to the Drone Teleport.

Strategies
The Standard Method
The obvious strategy is repeatedly shooting diagonally upward at Ukhu's mouth, such that when the creature opens it, your line of fire is already hitting it. You will need to jump up or dodge away when Ukhu spits and also jump up when it stabs with its stinger. Try to anticipate the stinger stab in order to avoid it.

Recommended weapons:
* Inertial Pulse (Reaches its mouth directly due to the beam's ability to penetrate enemies).

The Glitch Method
After Ukhu stabs at you with its stinger, it will lay back and release three smaller wasps. If these smaller wasps are glitched, they will explode when they are killed. The explosions will do a massive amount of damage to Ukhu, but only if they occur in range of its open mouth. Killing all 3 glitched wasps in range of Ukhu's open mouth will cause Ukhu to die instantly even on hard mode. Keep in mind that the timing must be nearly perfect for this to work.

Description
The Vision is a hallucination that Trace has while he is suffering the ill effects of the Pathogen. This Vision takes the form of a boss encounter in which Trace himself has become a Variant, and he sees another man in his own body attacking him.

Battle
This is an unusual encounter because the game unexpectedly reverses the role of the player. The player will control the monster during this battle and the computer will take over the "Trace" in the room.

The player will be able to move the Vision slowly around the room, and drop small red projectiles from holes in its body. However, this is an unwinnable encounter. Even sitting directly on top of the Trace in the room, you cannot damage him. He will eventually kill you and the story will continue from there.

Strategies
Since the encounter is unwinnable, there is not much strategy to the battle. If you want to speed things up a little (e.g. in Speedrun Mode), you can stay low just above the Trace that is shooting at you. Otherwise, just play around until you inevitably die and Trace faints.
Athetos released the Pathogen to mutate and wipe out the Sudrans after he discovered that they were using the Breach to prevent travel to other worlds and universes, thereby preventing any technological advancements being spread to other universes, and specifically to Earth.

Trace is heavily affected by the Pathogen late in the game, causing him to hallucinate through most of his initial travels through Ukkin-Na, culminating in a battle where he believes himself to be a boss. Although it is difficult to say when or how Trace is initially infected, the game does show a brief hallucination much earlier, when the effects may still be mild. In Zi, while players are making the climb to Kur for the first time, they might notice another Trace in the upper-left corner of the screen.
The Breach Attractor, called the Storm Talisman by the Sudrans, is a piece of ancient Sudran Technology that, when activated, will pull the Breach in closer to its location.

Prior to the events of Axiom Verge, a Sudran High Priestess had already activated the Breach Attractor, bringing the Breach tight against the surface of Sudra. Because the Rusalki cannot move through the Breach, this action had forced them into hiding, beneath the planet's surface.

During the final battle with Athetos, the player fights to weaken the Breach Attractor's power supply. Each time the power supply is weakened, the Breach itself can be seen retreating further above the planet's surface. This allows Elsenova to fly higher and attack the Breach Attractor directly. In response, Athetos moves his chamber further up the elevator where Elsenova cannot reach.

Trivia
The Breach Attractor is intented to resemble a styalized A over a V.
The Sudran were a race of people who populated the planet Sudra prior to the catastrophic effects of the Pathogen. No Sudrans are depicted visually in Axiom Verge aside from piles of bones found in Absu and Zi (from which we know they were bipedal and likely human-like in size and appearance), but their writings can be found in the form of Notes, scattered around the explorable areas, written in their own language.

In their ancient civilization, the Sudrans developed wondrous technologies such as the Rebirth Chambers, Breach Elevator & Breach Attractor. This time period in their history would later be known as The Land of Civilized Kings. However, they later had a sociological collapse, presumably caused by war, became xenophobic and superstitious of the technology and with the eventual release of the Pathogen, their race would die out entirely.
This, and the fact that one must pass Sentinel in order to get to Athetos, implies that Sentinel is not one of the "Old Machines" spoken of by Sudrans, but was built and installed by Athetos some time after his arrival on Sudra.

Encounter
Trace encounters Sentinel while making his climb up Mar-Uru in order to reach Athetos. Sentinel appears to hang from the ceiling and will begin the battle with its frame open. During the battle, if Sentinel closes its frame, it will become invulnerable to all forms of attack. While the frame is open, Trace can damage Sentinel by attacking its eye in the center of its ball-shaped head.

When its frame is open, Sentinel will continuously fire purple laser bolts that travel slowly in circular patterns around itself. It will occasionally charge and fire a very powerful directed beam from its eye. If caught in the beam, Trace will suffer massive damage.

When its frame is closed, Sentinel will rapidly fire whitish missile-like energy from the upper portion of its body. These missiles will change direction completely at random, making it difficult to find a "safe" point in the room.

As the player has the Red Coat by the time they face Sentinel, a simple defensive strategy is to dash back and forth through the projectiles fired during both phases of the battle, firing at Sentinel's "eye" whenever a safe point appears. Sentinel is a large machine that blocks the path upward in Mar-Uru. It hangs from the ceiling and has a white frame resembling the mandibles of a beetle. At the center of the frame is a ball-shaped protrusion with a single pink light, making it look as though Sentinel has a head with an eye.
